On February 7, 2008 we experienced the worst loss of our lives when our 17-year son Clinton Ron Walker died due to an undetected congenital heart defect.  Out of this pain our family decided to develop a scholarship fund in his memory and to educate people especially the youth about the importance of testing their hearts thoroughly for any defects especially if they are involved in sports.

The Clinton Ron Walker Scholarship Fund Inc was created to honor and remember him in a way that continues his legacy of service.  With your contributions members of the Stockbridge High School Class of 2009 and deserving Georgia students can receive scholarships that help them continue on with their college education.  All of your donations are tax deductible as this fund is a non-profit 501c 3 organization.

Students can apply for The Clinton Ron Walker Scholarship by writing an essay or a poem on friendship that is 150 words or less and filling out the application.

Our son started playing basketball in the 5th grade and despite all the physicals he endured, we were never made aware that there were any issues with his heart.  Even when Clinton began to have seizures and various medical issues, his heart was never thoroughly examined.  We believe that with the right type of physical examinations, ones that include an Echocardiogram, we can make sure that another child does not slip through the cracks and another family does not suffer this type of loss.

To help with this goal, we intend to plan events that bring awareness to heart health as well as friendship which was so important to our son.

Blessings,

The Family of Clinton Ron Walker
